We announce the death of Nancy Upson Kanipe of Arden, North Carolina, born in Greensboro, North Carolina, who passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 72. Nancy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Nancy York and Stephen Lumpkin Upson, Sr.; and her siblings, Stephen Lumpkin Upson, Jr. and Marie Upson Wright. She is survived by: her husband Robin Kanipe; her son Peter (McKenzie); her grandchildren, Samantha, Liam, Michael, Ben, Kinsley and Landon; her siblings, Jane Upson Hubbard (Tim) of Chapel Hill, NC and Joe Upson (Janice) of Marietta, GA; and her brother-in-law John Wright of Banner Elk.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 301 Overlook Rd, Arden, NC 28704. A reception was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
