He was predeceased by: his parents, Allan and Elsa; his brothers, Robert and John; and his sibling-in-law Lynn.
He is survived by: his siblings, Helen, Kristin, Pam and Peter (Ruth); his great grandchildren, Jake, Maverick, Charlie, Memphis, Canyon, Meadow and Madalee; and also, Timi Emmons, Mendi Frame (Todd), Sherri Triplett, Brian Chase (Denise), Stephen Chase (Lana), Maddi, Garrett, Jeremy, Joshua, Evan, Jackson, Michael, Kelsey, Stephanie, Christopher, Mackenzi, Riley, Wyatt and Miah. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Brunswick Funeral Home (5229 Ocean Hwy W, Shallotte, NC 28470). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that acts of kindness be paid forward in Richard's memory such as planting a tree or donating to the Coastal Cancer Center or simply living by the example he set.
