He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Lloyd and Exie Viola Hefner Baker; his former wife Cordia Belle Sigmon; and his brothers-in-law, Jack Fulbright, Joe Fulbright, Hal Sigmon and Johnny Sigmon.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Chaney Caviness Baker; his son David Eugene Baker (Susan) of Asheboro; his stepchildren, Toby Caviness (Melissa) of Liberty and Ginger Hancock (John) of Asheboro; his niece Teresa Boggs; his great-nephew Jason; his great-niece Kristy of Hickory; his siblings-in-law, Vickie Lineberger of Claremont, Birchie Chaney of Asheboro and Bert Chaney (Bonita) of Asheboro; and his cousin Harold Baker of Conover. He is also survived by several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Fred and his family joined St. John's Lutheran Church in 1965 and attended faithfully until Covid and his declining health.
