Gilmer Ray McDonald Obituary
Gilmer Ray McDonald, age 79, of 642 Vance St., Asheboro died Sunday, January 21, 2001 at his home. Mr. McDonald was a native of Randolph County and a member of the Gospel Missionary Church. He was a World War II Army veteran with the 82nd Airborne Division where he was awarded a Purple Heart He was a former employee of Enterprise Oil Company, a security guard with Randolph Mall for 13 years, and was presently employed as a security guard with Klaussner Furniture.
He is survived by his wife:June Smith McDonald of Asheboro, NC, son: William Ray McDonald of Asheboro, NC, daughter: Diane McDonald Voncannon of Asheboro, NC, daughter: Shelia McDonald Wilson of Asheboro, NC, brother: Virgil McDonald of High Point, NC, step-son: Larry Jester of Ramseur, NC, step-son:Pat Jester of Ramseur, NC, step-daughter: Phyllis Collins of Pleasant Garden, NC, 10 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Arnold J. Comer officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
