He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard A. Byrd and Ivey Leona Brown Byrd; and his brother C. E. "Shorty" Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Shelby Bunting Byrd; his son Keith Byrd of Asheboro; his brothers, Darrell "Bill" Byrd of Asheboro and Hilton "Pete" Byrd of Asheboro; and his stepchildren, Sharon Agner Johnson of Asheboro, Bobby Agner II of Asheboro and Gary Agner of Asheboro. He is also survived by eight step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
