She was predeceased by: her parents, Calvin Sams and Mildred White Sams; her daughter Wanda Russell Valdez-Cruz; and her sister Wilma Sams Moore. She is survived by: her daughter Joyce McCrorey (Brian); her siblings, Connie Sams Bryan and Floyd Calvin "Bud" Sams, Jr.; her grandchildren, Nathan Russell McCrorey, Marcos Valdez-Cruz and Marta Valdez-Cruz; and her great grandchildren, Aurora Finley and Isabella Finley.
