She was predeceased by: her parents, Theodore Rosevelt Freeman and Belva Gosnell Freeman; and her husband Jimmy Bascombe "Pokey" Guthrie. She is survived by: her children, J. B. Guthrie of Asheville, Gerald Guthrie of Asheville, Ricky Guthrie (Janet) of Weaverville and Becky Hunter (Alan) of Arden; and her brother L. A. Freeman (Ann) of Granite Falls. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
