With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ellen Paschall Johnson (Asheville, North Carolina), born in Knoxville, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 18, 2025 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Charles Spurgeon and Guerlain Carroll Paschall; her significant other Dr. James H. Johnson; her sisters, Carroll Finley, Martha Thacker and Jettie Hitchcock; and her brother-in-law Matt McIntire.

She is survived by: her children, Rebekah Lynne Johnson Hudson (Jeffrey) of Asheville, Karen Elizabeth Johnson of Asheville and Rev. James H. "Jamie" Johnson, Jr. of Asheville; her grandchildren, Morgan Keyes, Lacy Hudson Condy (Steven), Lance Hudson, Lyndi Hudson and Landrey Hudson Duncan (Owen); her great grandchildren, Ada and Willow Condy; her children, Cynthia Smith of Kernersville, NC and Gary Wayne Robinson, III of Nashville, TN.; her siblings, Rachael McIntire of Bolivar, MO, Rebecca Johnson (David) of Charlottesville, VA, Charles Paschall (Betty) of Winston Salem, NC and Dwight Paschall (Marsha) of Orange, VA; and her brothers-in-law, Bernard Thacker and Michael Hitchcock of Bolivar, MO. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
