Gary leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Gary’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Gary will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl and Dorothy; and his great grandchild Evie Pounds. He is survived by: his wife Brenda; his sons, Aaron Barnes of Tennessee, Jared Barnes and Sam Barnes (Adeyn); his stepchildren, Tom (Dawn), Fitch and April (Doug); and his siblings, Rick, Jeff and Linda Hickey. He is also survived by his wife: his children and stepchildren: his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Chapel Groce Funeral Home - Patton Ave. (1401 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806).
