It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gary Johnson (Asheville, North Carolina), who passed away on January 5, 2026, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Gary farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Gary is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elmer Leroy Johnson and Gladys Alberta Emmart Johnson; his brother Wayne Leroy Johnson (Robert Charles Johnson); his sons, Perry Andrew Johnson (Julia) and Benjamin Parker Johnson (Amanda); his grandchildren, Asher Vance Johnson and Maeve Adaline Johnson; and his caregiver Kristen Harrell.
