It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harold Bowens of Asheville, North Carolina, born in Bryson City, North Carolina, who passed away on July 11, 2023, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Bowens, Sr. and Annie Powell Bowens; and his brothers, Willie Bowens, Jr., Bobby Lee Bowens, Edward Douglas Bowens, Milton Ray Bowens and Pervis Dean Bowens.
He is survived by: his children, Dennis O'Neal of Piedmont, SC, Melody Germaine Porter of Asheville, NC, Kisha Benford of Orrville, OH and Angela Hector of Hickory, NC; his siblings, Charles Eugene Bowens, Linda Darnell Jones of Asheville, NC and Andrea Purcell (Wayne) of Asheville, NC; his sisters-in-law, Louise Regina Bowens and Sainte-Ola Mapp; and his close friend Annette Childs. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
