He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Ervin Jr. and Mary Peeler Ervin; and his siblings, Violetha Creswell, Patricia Ervin, Wandra Ervin (Dinky) and Sandra Tobe.
He is survived by: his children, Alesha, Duan Avery-Duckett, Marlon Patterson, Toni Morgan, Harriet (Bianca) and Anika; his siblings, Rosa Davis and Harold; and his former wife Carolyn Ervin. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
