He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Theodore Fields and Ruby Boss Fields; and his siblings, Harold Fields and Hilda Gillenwater Nash. He is survived by: his wife Connie Fields; his sons, Jordan Fields (Rachel) of Fairview and Aaron Fields of Asheville; his sister Sarah Fields; and his siblings-in-law, Livia Fields, Robert Nash, Jennie Elks (Jordan) and Kenneth Davis (Rhonda).
