Davis; his daughters, Jenny Lind Davis and Bonny Lee Wilson (Robert); his grandchildren, Haley Grove Buckner, Scarlett Mae Wilson, Hayden Joseph Buckner, Harrison Davis Buckner and Samuel Lyle Wilson; his great grandchild Grovelyn North Dillingham; and his grandchildren, Buddy, Doc, Merle Watson, Jeff Robbins, Roy Clark, Marty Stuart-Sam Bush, Jethro Burns, David Holt, Jerry Douglas, Don Humphries, Jan Howard (Grand Ole), Chubby Wise, Eddie Swann, Lena Jean Ray and Haley Grove.

Buddy received the Bascom Lamar Lunsford Award in 2000, in recognition of his significant contributions to traditional music.
