He was predeceased by: his parents, Arville "Tom" Thomas Bassett and CletaMae Margaret Perry Hughes; his stepfather J. B. Burrell; his brothers, Robert McHone, Tommy Moore, Robin Bassett and Terry Bassett; and his cousins, Allen Bassett and Ruby Bassett.
He is survived by: his family, Billy Ann Anderson, Jack Bassett, Chad Bassett, Tammy Pack and Sue Robinson; his friend Cynthia Gaddy; his siblings, Mike Bassett (Cynthia) of Asheville, Roy Bassett of Biloxi, David Bassett of Biloxi, Todd Raynor of Hampton, Virginia, Sue Robinson of Asheville and Kay Hunter of Asheville; and his cousins, Billy Ann Anderson, Tammy Pack, Ginny Todd, Christine Burchette, Jack Bassett and Chad Bassett (Jessica). He is also survived by his two children and grandchildren.
