It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Cortez (Asheville, North Carolina), born in Thibodaux, Louisiana, who passed away on January 19, 2024, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Joseph and Genevieve Folse Cortez. He is survived by: his wife Sharon McQueen Cortez; his children, Kerry Cortez (Lani) and Summer Berthelot (Jayme); his siblings, Clifford Cortez (Linda), Lloyd Jr. Cortez (Donna), Victoria Cortez (Grant), Linda Martinez (Damian) and Veronica Melancon (Kirk); and his stepchildren, Rebecca Hatley Colley, Christopher Michael Hatley and Byron Casey Hatley. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
