We are sad to announce that, on January 19, 2026, at the age of 85, James Overall Groce of Asheville, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas A. Groce, Jr. and Marguerite Groce (Overall); and his brother Thomas A. Groce, III of Asheville. He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Moore Groce; and his daughter Karen Elizabeth Groce Field (Erik John Field) of Asheville.
