He is survived by: his wife Bessie Smith; his children, Michael Lewis (Rita) of Winston-Salem, NC, Sharon Belton (Walter) of Spartanburg, SC and John L. Lewis of Spartanburg, SC; his grandchildren, Shanice, Taurean, D. J., Moesha, NeeNee (MeeMee) and Josiah; his great grandchild ADream; and his siblings, Anna Friday of Sacramento, Lula Mae Gilchrist of Washington, DC and Chester Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives he loved.
