He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Mae Showalter (Burkhart) and Rev. Roland LeRoy Showalter. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Wanga Brutsch of Geneva, Switzerland.; his children, Wendy Meyer (Greg Capps) of Asheville, Mark Showalter (Kim) of Weaverville and Philip Showalter (Eddana) of Marion; his grandchildren, Vincent, Jonathan, Blakely, Eiley, Victoria and Vanessa; and his siblings, Tom (Sandy) of Swannanoa, Jimmy of Stillwater, OK, Jane (Harlan) of Swannanoa and Joe (Linda) of Winston Salem.
