He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Cecil Swan and Florence Ruth Fowler Swan of New Orleans; his former wife Bonnie Sue Guillory Swan; his brother Robert Swan; and his siblings-in-law, Nettie Dunn Swan and Michael Guillory.
He is survived by: his children, John Edward Swan II (Courtney) and Suzanne Swan (Bret Kloos); his wife Susan; his grandchildren, Sarah (Jeremy Bird), Bee Swan-Kloos, Georgiana and Alex Swan; his brother Edward Fowler Swan; his siblings-in-law, Gail Swan, Ellen Guillory and Joel Guillory (Janet Burch); his nieces and nephews, Allen Swan, Rachel Swan (Dan Pruksarnukul), Elizabeth Guillory and Gregory Guillory (Carrie); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Andre Swan, Fallin Swan, Ian Swan, Westley Pruksarnukul, Max Pruksarnukul, Storm Guillory, Paxton Guillory and Rachael Guillory.
