He was predeceased by: his parents, Hillard Payne and Polly Roberts Payne; and his brothers, Bailey Payne, Bruce Payne and Charles Payne.
He is survived by: his brother Jimmy Payne (Becky) of Asheville, NC; his sister-in-law Robbie Jean Payne of Weaverville, NC; his sibling's children, Shree Beverly (Steve), Chrissy Stollmayer (Werner), Vickie Sarti (Dennis), Gwen Meadows (Jonathan), Phillip Payne, Rick Payne (Teresa) and Jeff Payne (Starla); his friend Shirley Boles; and his goddaughter Tonya Kay Green.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital or to Shriners Children Hospital.
