He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Brooks and Opal Brooks; his wife Katherine Williams Brooks; his son Jerry Brooks (Renee); his son-in-law Arbie Huffman; his grandson Carl David Huffman (Mandy); and his siblings, Carolyn Reed and Billy Brooks (Christine).
He is survived by: his children, Sandy Craig (Ronnie), Larry Brooks (Lorrene), Jan Huffman (Doug), Kathy Huffman and Jill Posey (Jason). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
