She was predeceased by: her parents, Harvey Moore and Ethel Caroline Fender; her former husband Joseph Martin Whitaker; her children, Bob Whitaker and Mary Jo Nesbit; and her grandson Walter Hendrix Jr..
She is survived by: her daughters, Corean Stevens (Carl) of Fairview, NC, Charlie Strickland (Bruce) of Swannanoa, NC, Sharon Holbert of Bradenton and Jeanette Craig (Mike) of Fairview, NC; her siblings, Vickey Ellison (Kim) of Alabama, Marthene Shelton of Etowah, NC, Maxine Barnwell of Hendersonville, NC and James Moore (Edna) of Asheville, NC; and her husband Joe. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews;11 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
