He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Andres Blas Mendez and Virginia Arnold Haney Mendez; his sister Susan; his children, Jason Mendez of Greenville, SC, Brandon Mendez (Amy) of Waynesville, NC, Marisa Rathbone of Hickory, NC and Susan Cook (Johnny) of Asheville, NC; his brother Allen Mendez of Dallas, GA; his niece Cindy Cook Rudel (John) of Norfolk, VA; and his nephew Chad Cook (Tara) of Asheville, NC.
