He was predeceased by : his father Norman Edward Simmons, Sr.; and his brother Wayne Simmons. He is survived by : his mother Beatrice Baines Simmons of Delco, NC; his wife Shelia Ann Woods Simmons; his children, Andrew Collin Simmons (Mandie), Kimberly Ann Williams (Jeremy) and Tyler Simmons; his grandchildren, Timothy, Shelby and River; his great grandchild Stella; and his brother Don Simmons. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Anders-Rice Funeral Home (1428 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806). A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
