He was predeceased by: his wife Kathryn Cosby Crout; his parents, Elzie Sloan Crout and Lucinda Koon Crout; and his siblings, Frank Crout, Carthel Crout (Edna), Harry Crout (Joyce), Harold Crout (Charlotte) and Evelyn Bociek (Stan).
He is survived by: his children, Bill Crout (Lynne), Grace Lunsford and Mary Gregg (Mike); and his grandchildren, Michael (Kelli), Ben, Brandon, Sloan (Emma), Claire, Rafe and Russ. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Groce Funeral Home - Patton Ave. (1401 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806). A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to the Ardenwoods Employee Appreciation Fund, 103 Appalachian Blvd., Arden, NC 28704.
