He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathan Dempsey and Ada Davis Blankenship; his wife Alene Robinson Blankenship; and his grandsons, Jeremy and Joey Banks.
He is survived by: his children, Rita Banks, Stanley and Gary Blankenship; and his siblings, Mary Proffitt, Ester Osteen and Alvin Blankenship. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren.
