He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Melton, Sr. and Mae Thorne Sams Melton; and his wife Barbara "Jean" Melton. He is survived by: his sons, Rodney D. Melton (Ruth) of Columbus and Robert "Bobby" Thomas Melton, Jr. (Annette) of Asheville; his granddaughters, Amanda Goodrich (Robert) and Grace Melton; and his brother Russell Melton of Asheville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
