We announce the death of Roy David McHone Sr. of Asheville, North Carolina, who passed away on October 19, 2026, at the age of 87. He was predeceased by: his parents, Noe McHone and Ava McHone; his son Roy David McHone, Jr.; his siblings, C. J. McHone and Joyce Harris; and his great grandchild Kaylee McHone.
He is survived by: his wife Irene Hilton McHone; his children, Kathy Sue Autrey (Daniel), Vicky Ann Tabbot (Bill) and John Paul McHone (Jamie Plott); his siblings, Marie Reed, Noe McHone (Nancy), Mary Honeycutt and Sandra Seals; and his grandchildren, Jill Autrey Parker (Brian), Matthew McHone, Zachary Autrey, Jeremy McHone, Jackson Autrey (Shalene), Amanda Autrey, Morgan Tabbot, Bill Tabbot, Jr. (Bri) and Caitlin Tabbot. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Grassy Branch Baptist Church (499 Riceville Rd, Asheville, NC 28805). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
