She was predeceased by: her husband Jack Garland; her parents, James Oliver McMahan and Elva Mae Sawyer McMahan; her brother Everette McMahan; and her stepmother Dorthea Henderson McMahan.

She is survived by: her siblings, Wanda McMahan Coats (Ronnie), Debbie McMahan Whitfield (Tommy), Wayne McMahan (Trish) and Dennis McMahan (Marie); her daughters, Waynette Garland Sorrells (Phil) and Jeanie Garland Campbell (Danny); and her grandchildren, Forrest Campbell (Louise), Ryan Campbell (Jennifer), Holly Campbell Carter (Wayne), Shelby Sorrells Keenan (Jesse), Megan Campbell and Dana Sorrells Anderson (Mac). She is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren along with numerous great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
