He was predeceased by: his father Walter Howard Mapp, Sr.; his wife Jessie Mae Simuel Mapp; his brothers, Winston Mapp and Wilbur Mapp; and his grandson Alexander L. Mapp (Mann).
He is survived by: his children, Howard D. Mapp (Rochelle), Kevin E. Mapp of Newport News, VA, Carol M. Williams (Arthur), Deborah R. Mapp of Dayton, OH, Faye L. Mapp and Benita L. Jones (Henry) of Stone Mountain, GA; and his brothers, Wallace D. Mapp (Brenda), Kenneth A. Mapp (Ellen) of Atlanta, GA and Leonard K. Mapp. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
