He was predeceased by: his parents, Shearod Pershing Burkhalter and Ruby Jane Burkhalter; his sister Judy Hobbs; and his son Jason Burkhalter. He is survived by: his wife Edith "Wanda" Sales of Asheville; his sons, Travis Burkhalter and Kevin Burkhalter; his grandchildren, Anna, Laura, Nathan, Mylia, Cooper, Parker and Zoey; his daughter-in-law Jessa; his close friend Holt Hudson; and his friends, Steve Jenkins, Marshall Blankenship, James Rogers, James Parker and Mike Baldwin.
