He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chatoney and Dora Lee Sanders; his stepfather Sandy Sanders; and his nephew Ross Lee Ammann. He is survived by: his wife Susan Soesbee Chatoney; his daughter Elizabeth Ann; his stepchildren, Jennifer and Brian; his sisters, Ginger Crenshaw (Mike) and Tina Simoneaux (Jerry); his grandchildren, Madison "Maddy Clare", Baylor, Macky and Hudson; and his stepgrandchildren, Madison "Madi", Breanna and Talon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, many friends and bandmates and his partner.
