He is survived by: his wife Sue Hollifield Kindley; his daughters, Tamara Kindley Terrell (Byron) of Fletcher, NC and Lisa Kindley Rettew (Richard) of Asheville, NC; and his grandchildren, Erik Rettew of Asheville, NC, Marianne Rettew (Christopher Varnson) of Waynesville, NC and Cole Rettew of Raleigh, NC..
