We announce the death of Elizabeth Cannon Johnson (Ayden, North Carolina), who passed away on September 22, 2026, at the age of 78. Elizabeth will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Heber Cannon and Rebecca Manning Cannon; her husband Denny Gene Johnson; and her brothers, Robert Cannon and Nelson Cannon.
She is survived by: her children, Rebecca Johnson Smith (Christopher), Donald Dean Johnson (Leigh Bailey Johnson) and Ronald Gene Johnson (Michelle Simek Johnson); her grandchildren, Matthew Christopher Smith, Elizabeth Brooke Smith, Victoria Johnson Kissinger (Dylan Michael Kissinger), Emily Caroline Johnson and Savannah Grace Johnson; and her pet Bella.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Rountree Christian Church (5111 Rountree Rd, Ayden, NC 28513). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
