She was predeceased by: her parents, Jo Ball and Irene Bland; her husband Harry R. Brinkley; and her siblings, Geneva Gilbert, Myrtle Adams, Ralph Bland, Norman Bland, Henry Bland, J. B. Bland and Jack Bland.

She is survived by: her sons, Tony Brinkley (Jennifer) of Winterville and Gary Brinkley (Amy) of Greenville; her grandsons, Dylan Brinkley (Melissa) of Greensboro and Brad Brinkley of New York; her stepgrandson Colin Wessels of Greenville; her great grandchildren, Kilian and Trinity; her sister Iris Richardson of Vanceboro; her sister-in-law Violet Frazier of Ayden; her caregiver Waldean McGarver of Greenville; and her nieces, Sonya O'Brien and Allison Morris. She is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
