We announce the death of Jimmie Whitehurst Jr. (Ayden, North Carolina), who passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 78. Jimmie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Whitehurst and Beatrice Whitehurst. He is survived by: his wife Deloris Strong Whitehurst; his children, Deandrea Henry (Willie), Dr. Anita Hooker (Jabari), Anthony Strong (Glenda), Tobias Guilluame (Maurice), Charles Whitehurst (Trish) and James Whitehurst (Nikita); his brothers, Glyn Whitehurst (Doris), Obediah Whitehurst and James Whitehurst (Ann); his siblings-in-law, Melvin Strong, Harvey Strong, Carolyn Cox, Gracie Edwards (Milton), Francine Strong and Florence Strong; his uncle Paul Boyd; and his brother Rev. Maurice Laws. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 2:00 PM at 2034 Mares Way, Greenville, NC 27858. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Zion Chapel Church (377 Planters St, Ayden, NC 28513).
