Winston Delano Wooten Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Winston Delano Wooten of Ayden, North Carolina, who passed away on July 8, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Sudie Cunningham Wooten; his former wife Sandra Sutton Wooten; and his siblings, Robert, Wayne, John, James, Carl, Norman, Williams, Clifton, Effie Wooten, Katherine Bright, Selma Rogers, Ruth Grayiel and Mamie Smith Williams.
He is survived by: his wife Virginia Riggs Wooten; his daughter Wendy W. Dunbar (Robbie); his grandchildren, Keith Winston Dunbar (Logan Caitlyn Webb) and Kylie Nicole Dunbar (Josh Philip Gibbs); his stepchildren, Christopher Riggs (Trudy) and Susan Persinger; his stepgrandchildren, Brad Persinger (Emily), Brent Riggs (Brittany), Kelsey Johnson (John) and Allie Liston (Tim); his stepgreat-granddaughters, Sadie Johnson and Monica Riggs; and his sister Margaret W. Oehrli. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Memorial Baptist Church (1510 Greenville Blvd SE, Greenville, NC 27858). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution to The Memorial Baptist Church or the Marion L. Shepard Cancer Center is suggested.
