We are sad to announce that, on March 16, 2026, at the age of 97, Janie Ashworth Merritt of Bahama, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, George Rhew and Maggie Lou Rhew; her husbands, Harold Ashworth and Bill Merritt; and her stepson Raymond Ashworth.
She is survived by: her daughter Annette Faries (John); her stepchildren, Cammy Young (Joe), Jane Adams (Danny) and Harold W. Ashworth, Jr. (Beth); her grandsons, Trey Williams (Melissa), Travis Williams, Jason Young (Mary), Matt Young (Marilyn), Steve Adams (Stacie) and Brandon Adams (Karla); and her great grandchildren, Brayden Williams, Luke Young, Tobias Young, Tucker Young, Hannah Young, Virginia Young, Isabella Pineda Adams, Benjamin Pineda Adams, Cameron Adams and Zoe Adams.
