He is survived by: his wife Lisa Williams Matthews; his children, Angela M. Griffin of Rocky Mount and Billy Matthews of Wilmington; his daughter-in-law Stacy Matthews of Wilson; his grandchildren, David Thomas Griffin (Grace) of Alachua, Hailey Ann Matthews of Wilson and Alivia "Livvy" Joy Matthews of Wilson; his son-in-law Matthew Roman (Brittany) of Wilson; his brothers, Alan Matthews (Cindy) of Rocky Mount and Sammy Matthews (Lucy) of Belhaven; his mother-in-law Betty Williams; his sister-in-law Penny Carroll; and his caregivers, Sarah Farmer and Brenda Johnson. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
