He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Jess Gardner, Sr. and Mary Louise Honeycutt Gardner; his stepson Joshua Lee Maupin; his sister Ava Parr; his parents-in-law, Cecil and Barbara Maupin; and his siblings-in-law, Kathy Brown and Charles "Chummy" Maupin.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Ann Maupin Gardner; and his son Jesse Gardner. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Appalachian Funeral Home (800 E Watauga Ave, Johnson City, TN 37601). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 9:50 AM. A committal service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Roselawn Memorial Park (3033 S Roan St, Johnson City, TN 37604).
