She was predeceased by: her parents, Willis Neal and Jessie Neal; her husbands, Charlie Penn Phillips and Roy Lee Barber; and her sisters, Lois Oldham, Ann Thomas, Bea Beal and Bobbie Phillips.
She is survived by: her children, Rebecca P. Gaines (Buck) of Bear Creek and Richard Wayne Phillips (Marsha) of Goldston; her stepdaughter Sandra Hunnings (Larry) of New Bern; her grandchildren, Julianna, Jason, Rachel and Kelly; and her great grandchildren, Grant, Reese, Lane, Noah and Caleb.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Joyce-Brady Chapel (3833 Chatham St, Bennett, NC 27208). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, October 21st 2026 at 2:00 PM at the High Falls Wesleyan Church (772 NC-22, Bennett, NC 27208).
