He was predeceased by: his parents, Corbin Smitley and Treva Gillogly Smitley; his wife Patricia Smitley (Hoffer); his son Paul Smitley; and his siblings, Linda Sutton, Bill and Neal Smitley.
He is survived by: his children, Val Smitley, Shawn Smitley and Lisa Slater (Smitley). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
