We announce the death of Joan Caulfield (Belmont, North Carolina), who passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 89. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Joan will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Joan will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Joan’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her husbands, Michael Fisher and Jack Caulfield; and her daughter Eileen Miller. She is survived by: her brother David Schoner (Terry); and her children, Diane Fisher, Karen Mason, Maryellen Magee and Michael Fisher. She is also survived by her six stepchildren; 24 grandchildren; and at least eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who were blessed by her warmth.
In Joan's memory, the family welcomes donations to Popcorn Park Animal Rescue (ahscares.org), Greyhound Friends of North Carolina (greyhoundfriends.com), or other animal rescue organizations.
