He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Daniel Paul Engel and Mary Anastasia Weisgerber Engel; his wife Una Jones Engel of Belmont; his children, John David Engel (Michele) of Perkasie, PA, Brittany Engel and Sharyn Alfers (William) of Huntersville; his grandchildren, Matthew, Michael and Nicole Alfers; and his brother Daniel Paul Engel, Jr. (Joanne).

Interment will follow in Evergreen - "A Quiet Place."In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Belmont, 102 S. Central Avenue, Belmont NC 28012, where funds will be distributed to Rice N Beans and to Feed the Children.
