It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Smith Sawyer (Benson, North Carolina), born in Beaufort, North Carolina, who passed away on December 20, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Louis and Helen Fortiscue Smith; and her son David W. Sawyer. She is survived by: her husband Ray Sawyer; her daughter Rae Reinink; her grandchildren, George Sawyer (Samantha), Avery Reinink, Jakob Reinink (Alicia) and Janna Walton (Jonathan); and her siblings, C. Lee Smith and Helen Hardison.
