He is survived by: his sons, Matthew Gilbert (Emily) of Waxhaw, NC and Marshall Gilbert of Stanley, NC; his grandchildren, Archer Gilbert and Grayson Gilbert; and his sister Amy Gerard of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by several nieces and a nephew.
