He was predeceased by: his brother Bobby; his wife Waverly Carol Smith; and his grandson Warren Bennett Oser. He is survived by: his son Elon Shealy Smith II; his brother Tommy Smith; his adoptive son Jeff (Joy Johnson); his grandchildren, Emily Oser (Tyler Oser), Michael Oneal, Matthew Smith, Jessica Della-Coletta (Drew Della-Coletta) and Johnathon Johnson; and his great grandchildren, Delanie, Mason, Westin, Waylon, Allison, Ashlynn, Remington, Raelynn, Addyson, Asher, Andi and Jackson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, May 14th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home (301 W Main St, Benson, NC 27504). A funeral service was held on Friday, May 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
