He was predeceased by: his father John Elbert; his wife Itha Mae Stephenson Byrd; and his siblings, John Edward Byrd, Alene Carroll and Eula Rackley. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; and several loving nieces and nephews.
