He was predeceased by: his wife Diane Downey; his parents, James Willie and Hattie Downey; and his siblings, Richard Arlan Downey, Jim Downey, William Plato "Buck" Downey, Barbara Black, Marlene Childers, Joan Smith and Joyce Buckner. He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews.
